Alfred M. Rackers

Alfred M. Rackers was appointed to our Board of Directors on May 15, 2004. He has served since November 2002 as OrbiMed Healthcare Fund Management, a a venture capital firm. He also has served since 1989 as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of State Street Global Advisors, an investment management firm. From June 1992 to May 2000, Mr. Rackers served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Abbott Laboratories, an American multinational medical devices and health care company and currently serves as a director of Becton Dickinson, an American medical technology company that manufactures and sells medical devices.

Mr. Rackers also serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of the ESB Biomaterials, a non-profit organisation that encourages research and spread of information regarding research and uses of biomaterials. Prior to 1992, Mr. Rackers held positions as a Certified Public Accountant with Mazars USA, BDO USA, and Withum and served as Senior Vice President for Axial, an international merchant banking firm.
